R. Michael Allen was born in Charlotte, North Carolina and attended Charlotte public schools.  He graduated from the University of North Carolina in 1981 with a degree in Business Administration and from the University of North Carolina School of law in 1984.  He has practiced in Charlotte since he was admitted to the Bar in 1984.  Mike practices primarily in the areas of estate administration, guardianship administration, incompetency  law and general fiduciary law.  Mike frequently serves as the Commissioner in Court-ordered sales of real property.  He has served as the Public Administrator for Mecklenburg County from 2003 through the present.
